2019 PRESENTATIONS AND BOOTH

08:00 – 08:30 EXECUTIVE ADDRESS AND OPENING

Mark McKelvey, CHQ VP Product Management, Next Generation Access Networks Clay Tevebaugh, West Division Director Planning and Design Jhann Burke, West Division Manager Planning and Design—Serviceability

08:30 - 09:15 FACILITY SEARCH

Aaron Carr, West Division Sr Database Administration Specialist, Application / Systems Development Maryam Sanieian, West Division Eng 3, Designer, Application / Systems Development

The Facility Search Application provides access to Design and Business data for West Division. The application is available to employees and outside contractors so that users have access to the same system of records. In this talk, we will go over data and tools available in the application and it’s flexibility to adjust and expand to the user’s needs.

09:15 - 10:00 Plan

Blake Bruhn, West Division Manager Planning & Design Michael Riggs, West Division Engineering 2, Planning & Design

Plan tools are built specifically for frontline designers. It will allow designers to maximize return on investment, enabling our design teams to make the most informed decision on residential and commercial build opportunities. See permits filed by developers that indicate future builds, enabling us to move into a planning mentality and design our network holistically for future projects

10:15 - 11:00 SPARTA

Nick (Leibao) Qi, West Division Analyst, Data Science, Market Development Sonya Callahan, West Division Director, SMB Field Sales, Business Services

Sales Prospecting and Routing Territory Application (SPARTA) is a mobile solution that enables our sales team to work more efficiently by providing a market view about their sales territories. It gives sales reps more clarity on market attributes like building serviceability and prospective businesses. It also provides a seamless integration with Salesforce and an optimized route to better plan their schedules. In doing so, SPARTA makes the sales process simpler, faster, and more efficient.

11:00 - 11:30 BEACON

Rina Hayashi, CHQ Director, Product Mgmt, Next Generation Access Networks

Beacon is a mobile (iOS) and web application that allows users to view HFC (Hybrid-Fiber Coax) plant data, report storm damages and run Fiber and OTDR (Optical Time Delay Reflectometer) traces.

11:30 - 12:00 SpatialNet Get Healthy

Jeff Kukuk CHQ Director, Director, Design and User Engagement, Next Generation Access Networks

Project review and updates on how we are restoring integrity back to the data.

01:00 - 02:00 Visualizing Bandwidth Consumption Tool to Aid in the Augmentation of Nodes

The use of this tool is intended to reduce ineffective split designs which saves valuable capital. Repeated segmentation of a node based on devices or homes past counts is not effective in isolating the underlying cause of capacity which is data used at a certain point in time (usually peak hours). By keying on device consumption we are better able to determine which customers and subsequently which segments of the network are most likely the driving force behind congestion on the network.

Being able to resolve the underlying traffic issues we are better able to provide our customers with a better overall data usage experience. Augmenting a set of customers (node) a single time vs. multiple trial and error scenarios we limit the down-time to our customers as we augment the network.

Using data from across the organization a tool and method were developed to visualize the consumption of bandwidth for a given node. The primary sources are the modem consumption data and the regional design datasets. The approach was to build a simplified tracing network for a given RF network, map the consumption data to the taps and then roll the consumption back up the node. Color gradients where then applied to this network to visualize the upstream or downstream consumption from the end points of the network back to the node. This allows users to quickly identify where the network is hot and where it is cold with respect to consumption aiding in efficient node splits.

02:15 - 03:15 DARK FIBER

Ron Shaw, West Division Manager 1, Planning & Design, Engineering Svcs

Dark Fiber provides instant cost and route calculations for dark fiber and ePON projects. The tools calculates the most optimum route between the designated hubs and sites, and gives users the ability to edit, save, and share the proposals

03:30 - 04:00 Comcast Spotlight

Katherine Alevizos, Mgr, D&S Automation Research, Research

Overview of Spotlight’s geographic targeting sales proposition. The launch of Esri platform to business users across the Spotlight organization, and their use cases including: identifying advertising zones within an appropriate distance from business locations, relating Comcast advertising zones to political race geographies, using automation to create standardized advertising zone collateral, and creating “heat map” visualizations of market research data in advertising geographies to information advertising campaigns for target segments.

04:00 - 04:30 ESRI (Engaging Internal Stakeholders & External Contractors with ArcGIS Portal)

ArcGIS Portal allows for easy sharing of GIS layers, web maps, and web apps to stakeholders inside and outside of Comcast. Allow users to manage and access the authoritative data source by sharing content to groups of users. Easily set up and reference data from multiple portals through portal to portal collaboration. ArcGIS Portal also offers configurable apps, like dashboards, that can be configured in 5 min and easily shared to those needing insight into a project.

NAX AND ADDRESS ENHANCEMENTS (Booth Only)

Bruce Gustafson, CHQ Director, Engineering Operations

NAX is a repository of addresses from several Comcast sources; with cross reference information for the input sources.

Current sources are: eLOC – Enterprise Locations; the official source of Comcast addresses and attributes, data owned/maintained by the regions; Valassis – a third party vendor that guarantees valid USPS mailing addresses; Epsilon – the current Commercial Marketing database

Resources in the process of on-boarding are: eGIS – design addresses associated with plant / network data and KEB / Athena – replacement Commercial Marketing database for Epsilon

ESL Type Ahead is a REST based service which could be used by consumer application to perform a predictive search on addresses. It is currently in use by Digital Moves, HouseSMaRT, OMNI, Facility Search, P2 and in development with several other Comcast consumers.

ORION (Booth Only)

This transformational program will modernize the way Comcast Business markets, sells, and operates its full suite of products and services. Powered by the new Amdocs CES platform, Orion will enable an improved customer and employee experience through standard processes and order flow automation. Orion is part of the company-wide Next Gen program to build out the Amdocs solution and replace CSG by 2021.

P2 (Booth Only)

P2 (fka Polaris) is an enterprise-wide integrated workflow orchestration tool that tracks the progress of all construction job types – providing visibility into status of milestones, accurate cost of each project, the data to build forecasts, and the ability to roll up those metrics to a national view.

Learn more about how P2 will help Construction, Engineering, Finance and our Business Partners manage construction – from design, to build, to paying our business partners, and more.
